'Managing Schools for Biodiversity' is a free online training course aimed at managers of school, nursery and college grounds, designed to support any setting trying to increase or maintain the biodiversity of their site.

Developed by Natural England and Department for Education in collaboration with the National Biodiversity Data Centre Ireland, the course meets education policy standards while bringing together best practice from across the environment sector and industry, covering habitat creation, climate adaptation, planting for pollinators and growing of food. It can support a whole-school approach to your Nature Park journey.

Offering inspiration and practical guidance collated from a range of specialist providers, this course aims to give confidence in:

  • understanding what biodiversity is and why it is important
  • understanding the actions you can take in your grounds to support biodiversity
  • understanding how your management contributes to improving the school, nursery or college's environmental and financial sustainability
  • knowing where to find further information and guidance

The free course requires you to enrol with an email address, and takes approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete.
