Thanks to your amazing efforts, we've reached a big milestone in the Nature Park programme this week. Over 1,000 schools, colleges and nurseries across England are now busy creating their habitat maps, and have mapped an area of more than a whopping eleven million square metres!

In other words, that's an area around the size of more than 8,800 Olympic-sized swimming pools! Young people across England are taking the exciting first step in understanding their local environment and choosing how to make meaningful improvements for nature.

Whether you're recording trees and hedges, grassy areas, or even bare ground, mapping existing habitats helps track progress over time as well as contributing to cutting-edge scientific research.

Thank you to every young person and educator who has taken part in this essential first step! We can't wait to continue on this journey with you to to make a difference for the future of nature and young people.
