Investigating climate change in urban areas

This activity explores how climate change affects cities through the lens of the urban heat island effect. Using IPCC data and real-world case studies, learners analyse how factors such as vegetation, surface materials and water availability influence temperature differences between urban and rural areas. Through data interpretation, mapping and creative redesign tasks, students evaluate strategies to reduce heat stress and make cities more climate-resilient.
