Nest building
In this creative outdoor activity, learners will discover why birds build nests and how clever design helps keep eggs and chicks safe, warm and hidden from predators. By exploring how different birds use different materials and locations, learners will think about what makes a nest strong, comfortable and well suited to its environment. They will then put their ideas into action by designing and building their own bird’s nest using natural materials, carefully considering the needs of a chosen bird species and the challenges it might face in the wild.
