Requesting environmental information with learners
Everyone has the right to request information held by publicly funded organisations.
This guidance explains what rights learners have and how they can use them to request environmental information. It explains the specific laws - Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) - which make information requests possible. Links to relevant websites, as well as a clear explanation of the request process, are included. This guidance works well with the classroom activities environmental information rights (KS3-4) and requesting environmental information about your local area (KS2). You can find these resources in the what to try next section at the end of this page.
This has been produced in collaboration with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
